Every year, Whitgift School runs its own international summer school for students from around the world and the UK. The summer school offers English language courses for students whose first language is not English and who wish to improve their skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. This year we have added an International Baccalaureate preparation course to the programme, which will benefit UK and international students who are due to begin the IB Diploma in September or the near future and wish to be better prepared for the demands of this rigorous qualification.

Due to the impact of Covid-19 and limitations on international student travel, the summer school will run online in 2021 with three courses on offer:
1. English for International Education (11 – 13 years)
2. Academic Skills in English (14 – 16 years)
3. IB preparation (14 – 16 years)

The online courses have been designed to prepare students for the challenges they will face when they return to school in September. Whether students are starting a new school, new programme, preparing for an English exam such as the IELTs or B2 First, or about to begin the IB diploma, it is our aim that each participant completes their course feeling more confident.
Each course is three weeks long and includes a total of 15 hours of tuition per week. Students have the option of taking their course in one of our two sessions. The first session takes place between Monday 12 July – Friday 30 July with the second session running between Monday 2 August – Friday 20 August.
