Grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts and heat wave temperatures completed the recipe for a tropical garden party held at Whitgift House this July.  More than 150 residents, family and friends filled the South Croydon care home’s delightful grounds for their Hawaiian themed annual garden party. The guests were treated to an afternoon of tropical treats including music that spanned the generations, afternoon tea and pimms, and a range of stalls selling plants, beauty products and bric-a-brac.  Another highlight proved to be a raffle where one lucky winner won the unique top prize of a hoover. Overall, more than £1,250 was raised for the residents’ social fund and the Friends of Whitgift House. The event was supported by work experience students from local schools including Addington High School.

Wilhelmina House, Whitgift Care’s residential care home also celebrated their garden party in style this July. A jazz quartet serenaded guests in the Home’s secluded garden as they tucked into pimms and a scrumptious buffet followed by strawberries and cream. A tombola and raffle raised around £700 with a proportion of the funds going towards The Royal Marsden and the Residents’ own social fund.

Residents at the Whitgift Almshouses are getting ready for their ‘back to school’ themed garden party taking place at the end of August.
